You have thought of everything. I could not have brought this altogether alone. We are working through it section by section and treating it as a collection of info about us that we can go to rather than a scattering of info in many places. It has forced me to track down info, correct beneficiaries, and even saved me money as I track down online subscriptions and memberships! This is a fantastic tool worth every penny in my opinion.
Love the NOKBOX. It’s given me peace of mind and brought to remembrance my life’s most wondrous moments. I highly recommend to friends, family and associates.
Getting it organized.
After I got it, I realized that it was more than just a packet for my next of kin when I die. When we have hurricanes , I could grab it and leave home and have all the important documentation needed.
When my parents unexpectedly lost their mobility to frequent falls and the onset of dementia. I was asked to come in and help take over all of their financial, medical and daily necessities of their lives. I felt behind the power curve in getting an overnight grasp of all of their matters. NOK Box saved the day with their organizational product that quickly helped me organize my parents live with minimal.effort. especially their medical issues and treatment. I would highly recommend NOK Box for anyone needing to organize their lives.
I felt I was fairly organized already, but wanted something mobile in case of a tornado or fire. The system is very easy to use, and I simply moved some of my folders from the filing cabinet to my fire proof box I purchased separately. My box has another zippered section on top, so it’s perfect for the key bag and protected documents. The Nokbox is very comprehensive, and there are things I hadn’t thought about (satellite radio, toll passes). I will be purchasing more for family.
A WORK ON PROGRESS I’ve thought about this for years….what would my son do if he lost both his Dad and I suddenly? I have bits and scraps pulled together but now have the reason to organize it based on Nok Box folders. The system also made me realize there were things I hadn’t thought of! Love this!
This kit was so helpful for organizing all the important information that one would need as next of kin. I loved how the folders have suggestions and explanations of what is important to be put in the box. I had my own safe and everything fit perfectly. There were things that I would've forgotten to document had it not been for this kit. Thank you Nokbox !
Great detail
Fantastic for helping to organize everything. The only suggestion would be to better distinguish the section tabs. I used a red sharpie to do this as shown in the photo.

I am a very organized person and thought I had all my estate info put together for my children. I didn't know how much I had not included till I got my Nok Box. After doing both of my parents estates I know how important it is not to leave your children with a mess to figure out
Love the base kit. This isn't something you hurry through to get done. It will also need update once or twice a year. How convenient to have everything important in one place for a loved one. They will have an easy task because of this system.
After some recent deaths in our family, it made clear we needed to get our own lives in order. The NokBox is an awesome way to get organized. It's so easy, even though it seems like an overwhelming task, the instruction sheets make it very simple.

Very pleased with the NOK box product, approach and process. For several years I have used a document I created and updated annually. I like the NOK approach for two reasons - it is more comprehensive and it uses a practical physical object that is easily located and accessed. Purchased a box from the container store. This is a work in progress. Really like the checklist approach for collecting information. Found it easier to recreate a couple of forms on my laptop since I anticipate there will be updates to them but I’m pretty much using your package directly. My plan for the documents bag is to put pages in there to let people know where they can be found. Likely will do something similar with the key bag but I will use the tags. Great product.
I love my NOK box base kit because it fits in two fire/water safe bags that fit in my locked file cabinet for security. I have already filled out half of my NOK box!

Three folders complete. I'm excited to keep plugging away at this. The peace of mind in the end will be very satisfying.
Years ago, I subscribed to a paper system to collect important details and documents. It was sold as a way to organize MY life. I finally went digital but lost the sense of touch and totality of the information. It was there, but it wasn't organized or usable. I saw Nokbox.com and realized I needed to organize for my NOK, not me. How would they use the information, and how do they interact with it? Nokbox was the perfect solution. It's taking me a while to convert it back to paper and collect the necessary documents, but in the end, I do believe this format will be better for my NOK. Thanks.
I am 63 and my husband is 73. I have attempted to organize in the past and even bought several books to help (my favorite was "In case you get hit by a bus", it really did have some great tips). HOWEVER, actually trying to get everything together after reading the books was exhausting and so a couple years went by with limited results. NOKBOX is so much better with all the folders and files already together in one place. I bought the base kit and put everything in my pink, portable fireproof box. His daughter will be our executor and she is delighted I am doing this because as she says "If you go first Dad won't have a clue!" I even bought her a NOKBOX lite. I'm about 1/2 way through and so far I think this will not only be great for our next of kin, but it will also help keep ME organized for day to day life. The checklists are pretty easy to understand and remind you about all kinds of things that both you and your NOK might need. For example, we had an outlet installed in the carport to plug in a gas generator in case of an extended power outage. Trouble is we always had to hunt for the handwritten instructions the electrician gave us for how to connect everything. Now it is in the Utilities folder so we can find it next time. And all our insurance information - life, health, auto, home, and AFLAC - are all together in one place instead of several different file drawers. It will take a while to finish, but I am pleased with both the product and my progress so far!
As a professional organizer I had seen The NOK Box many times and thought “oh, that’s a good idea”, but never bought it. Recently my mom and my aunt both passed away and I had to deal with their estates and it was a mess! I told myself that I wouldn’t leave all that work, and guesswork, to my kids so I purchased the NOK Box and have been working on it for the last few weeks. I had my own file box to put all the folders into, which is what you see in the photo. I have already recommended this product to several family members and clients. This would also be a good product to purchase if you are now having to settle someone’s estate, as it walks you through all of the things you need to do and supplies you with helpful checklists to keep track of everything.

I had my own box so just ordered the Base Kit. Everything fits beautifully. The checklists are great. I love how the front side shows what I should include in the file, and the back side will tell my son and daughter what to do with those forms and papers. After spending years searching for documents in three separate filing cabinets, I will soon have the important things condensed into just this one small box. The rest gets tossed or shredded. Our Nokbox is fairly new and we haven't gotten far into it yet - BUT, it has gotten us started on something we've been meaning to do for years!! The main reason for not starting the process of organizing our important documents, is not knowing where to begin. The Nokbox solves that by giving us a step-by-step process addressing every possible area, where to start, what to gather, how to complete that section, etc. That appeals to my sense or order and has motivated me to start gathering our documents. I am confident we will continue to complete this Nokbox over time and will feel a great relief in knowing our children will not have to go on a hunt for important information when we're gone.
At age 77 I feel the NOKBOX is a wonderful way to organize stuff and save my adult children the pain of the scavenger hunt for important information. It came with hanging files that fit perfectly in my desk.
I love that all of the categories are all premade and so far I think I've used every category. This is a wonderful organizational box for next of kin. It even includes fireproof envelopes for important papers birth certificates death certificates I think this is going to help my children when I pass on.

I spent the pandemic years working on putting together something like this for my next of kin and thought I had it all figured out. Still, I liked the idea of the Nokbox and the pre-made labels, so I ordered the base kit, planning to consolidate my own files into one convenient Nokbox. When I began work on the Nokbox I realized that my meticulous record keeping represented just a drop in the bucket; the NokBox kit showed me how many categories and details I had missed. When my mom died a few years ago it was so difficult to close and settle accounts because I had no idea the scope of her obligations. I had to wait to receive a bill in the mail before I could act on closing it. In the Nokbox Utilities & HOA folder, I listed all my utilities and went one step further to include account numbers, phone, and user name/passwords and whether the payments are monthly, quarterly or annually. I dropped a paper statement from each bill into the NokBox folder, and voila! My NOK will know WHERE to look for details and WHAT to do with that information because of the easy-to-understand instructions for NOK on the back of each worksheet. The categories are well thought out and I was pleasantly surprised to find a folder called "Ancestry" where I can keep the kids' Mayflower Society, and Daughters/Sons of the Revolution historical documentation. This is a great product and I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that the print on my pages are too light for my vision-impaired NOK. For the digital generation who will benefit from this knowledge, the lack of an equivalent electronic or on-line version is disappointing. I am duplicating the information in a digital document where I can use a larger, bolder typeface and allow my NOK to link directly to the accounts reference in the Nokbox. Giving my NOK the gift of answers gives ME the gift of peace of mind. Thank you!
Slowly working through folders and directions. Have found it necessary to put some folder groups in separate "NOKBOX II" as they contain large files. Finding all the keys was easy, as I already had put labeled extra set in a drawer. I have found that phone number fields appear to be missing from some sheets, as well as sex and neutered checkboxes missing from pet worksheets. I have also used my "Things.app" to identify worksheet fields to be filled in or already completed. I typically scan all my receipts and records every week, so it would help to have a digital "NOKBOX" folder on my computer with all the information, and a copy of its contents placed on a flash drive for my next of kin.
I love my NOKbox base kit. Being a librarian, I am a very organized person so I thought I was well prepared. However, I decided to order the kit just to be sure I wasn’t missing anything. My husband died unexpectedly in March so I am well aware of the need to be organized for those you leave behind. You can imagine my surprise when I was completing a form and I realized that I’d forgotten to change the beneficiary on my HSA after my husband’s death. I am not sure that I’d have thought of this without the prompt on the form. So I’m grateful for that. There were other prompts that were also valuable. I’m very happy with the thoroughness of all the forms as well as the quality of the bags, folders, and key tags. I laid them out on my floor (see photo) to arrange them alphabetically before putting them in my locked file cabinet…because that’s just what a librarian does. :)
I göt this for my husband to organize our things . He is enjoying putting everything in an orderly fashion. Easy for our children to find in the future.
Time consuming at the start, but worth it. Best organization system !!!

I’m very grateful that you made the Letter to my NOK and the Crucial Info form downloadable and editable so I could customize them to my situation.
